I believe that talents shouldn’t be put to waste. They must be enhanced and be shown to the whole wide world because it is God’s gift to you. And you might not know it from the start but others might benefit and appreciate that talent of yours.
That’s why I’m glad my brother-in-law Chris Gool decided to put up his own business.
Chris was born with an artist’s hand and creative mind. He was able to work as a jewelry designer which gave him the opportunity to go to Europe. He also tried designing furniture pieces for quite some time. Then came a need for him to help in the family business. While handling collections, he used his free time to doing photo manipulations of himself.
He also started his blog Buhay Bohemio to share his bohemian life and his love for art. But it seems working for the family business is not for him. Thus, after thinking about the pros and cons of living the bohemian way, he thought about putting his talents to use.
Since he loves wearing shirts, he attended a workshop about silk screen printing. Why not make his own shirts with his own designs? He learned the ropes by himself and started a business with his friend Fitz of Ready To Be Rich and put up Blogger Shirts (Bloggers, choose your cool shirts here!). I also got kuya’s services on designing my Glamma Momma shirts.
That was also the time he started doing digital portraits. He was testing the waters and building his portfolio. Here’s one he did with our wedding picture.

The original photo file was in a very high resolution that’s why he was able to give us a half-body version of it. It looks great, right?
Aside from the blogger shirts and digital portraits, he also makes shirts for non-bloggers, blings and bohemian bags. Below are samples of his products.

Chris was inspired by success stories of people who make a living out of their creative hobbies and thought that he can achieved that as well.
When asked how do he see himself 5 years from now, he said:
“Five years from now I probably have created a lot of products and have mastered my craft. I’m more focused on what becomes of my skills and talent. I believe that the better I become, more opportunities will come my way and success will follow.”
And his advice to budding entrepreneurs:
“You really have to have passion in what you do and the nature of your business. That passion gives you the drive for innovation, improvement and perseverance.“
Buhay Bohemio is giving away One 11″ x 14″ Print of a Digital Portrait Painting converted from a submitted photo image file (Note: Up to 3 people on the artwork).
