Manila Zoo is the oldest zoo in the Philippines located in the Quirino Avenue in the city of Manila (near Roxas Blvd.). It’s whole name is Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden. I believe that if you’re a resident of Metro Manila, you should have at least once visited Manila Zoo.
The last time we went at the zoo was when Kelsea was just turning 2 years old. We came with my parents and my nephew (same age with Kelsea). I know the 2 kids didn’t much remember what’s in there so when I saw a great deal from TCAT, I immediately bought a voucher good for 15pax. It’s a whole day pass plus unlimited all activities in Kinder Zoo (inside Manila Zoo).

We went one Sunday morning with our barkada and their kids. We are all from the South so we met around 7 am for breakfast at McDonald’s ATC . From there, the kids already warmed-up because of the play place. Manila Zoo opens at 9 am so we have an hour to fill-up our tummies and another hour to travel from Alabang to Manila. Unfortunately, I forgot our voucher at home 🙁 Forgetful me! So Mark went back to Cavite to get it. We were already able to leave past 9 am.
Do you want to know how to go to Manila Zoo from Alabang? By private vehicle, take the South Superhighway all the way to the end (that’s Quirino Ave.). Turn left to Quirino Ave. and go straight. You will pass by Taft Ave. Then turn left at M. Adriatico St. (that’s the 2nd street before Roxas Blvd.). You’ll see the parking entrance from there. Parking is around Php 30 or Php40 if I’m not mistaken.
Don’t buy souvenir products in the parking lot. There are a lot to choose from inside the zoo. Entrance in Manila Zoo is Php40 for adults and Php20 for kids below 4ft.
The main attraction in Manila Zoo is the elephant named Maali who’s already 30+ years old. Wow, same generation pala kami lol! His habitat is at the right side after the zoo entrance. Take pictures or you can also feed him with a banana.

Other animals that can be seen inside the zoo are turtles, monkeys, tigers, different kinds of birds, snakes. Here’s some of them we were able to capture a shot…

Some people bring along food for picnic. They either bring their own mats or buy a “panapi” inside the zoo for only Php10. There is also a boat ride but we were not able to go to that area anymore to take pictures since it was starting to drizzle.
Here are things to bring when going to Manila Zoo:
– Camera/video
– Water
– Snacks
– Umbrella
– Extra shirts/clothes for the kids
– Insect repellant
– Powder and cologne in case kids want to freshen up
– Alcohol
– Wipes or tissue
– Extra money for souvenirs
Plan your next weekend with an educational trip here. Your kids will surely love seeing different kinds of animals. Watch out for my next post about Kinder Zoo 🙂

I’d never been into Manila Zoo, although I live now in Caloocan. Kaloka noh?!
Looks like you had fun at the Zoo! I wanna go there too! Hopefully one day makapunta ako dyan together with my little boy, Cyler. 🙂

Hello there! Sad lang ako kasi di na masyado na-maintain ang zoo. Hindi siya pang tourists. Better pa rin ang Avilon Zoo and Zoobic kahit mahal ang entrance. I think kids will enjoy pag may kasamang friends or cousins na kids din 🙂

Yes, I guess you’re right, low maintenance nga ang Manila Zoo. We’re planning to visit Avilon Zoo at Tiende Sitas sana matuwa ang bagets. 🙂

I haven’t been to Ark Avilon near Tiendesitas but I was able to go to Avilon Zoo in Montalban, Rizal nung mag bf-gf pa lang kami ni hubby hehe

Wow! It’s nice to see that elephant again. I haven’t been to Manila Zoo in ages. I hope to bring my kids there soon.
I found your blog through Jeth Gool’s FB page, btw. :o)

Hi Connie! Ate Jeth’s my sis-in-law 🙂 It’s fun visiting a zoo especially if you’re an animal lover but I hope the management can maintain it’s cleanliness kasi some areas are left unclean or not beautiful to the eyes.
Thanks for visiting my blog! 🙂
