Last August 7 was the much-awaited concert of Smashing Pumpkins. Mark was so excited to watch and I am too because it was supposed to be my birthday gift to him. But he was having second thoughts due to the weather. Truly the weather was so bad and caused floods everywhere leaving lots of affected people. To show SP’s concern, they postponed the concert to August 8. My hubby became excited and wanted to watch. It was still raining from time to time but manageable to travel since we have an SUV. I bought tickets to the concert thru online booking and made arrangements with my parents to leave Kelsea with them for the night. But on our way to my parents, we heard news from the radio that traffic is very heavy in EDSA and C5 near Tiendesitas is unpassable. And more rains in the evening. Because of this, we said goodbye to my 2k+. We don’t wanna risk being stranded.
We just had dinner with my parents, sister and nephew in SM Southmall. But he kept on checking the news and FB posts in his phone. That’s when he got disappointed. It was not raining much and the warning was changed to yellow. Sana tumuloy na lang kami like our friends Faye and Tibs who still went there commuting.
After dinner, we just went home and he slept at once. That’s the reason for his major disappointment. He even had shirts printed for friends in time for this concert.
I want to make the birthday boy happy again so I pushed through with my surprise plan for him last August 11 which is his special day. I told him we will be going out early morning to celebrate his birthday. I wanted to blindfold him but I wasn’t able to find something at home that I can use. And Kelsea might blurt out where we are and spoil the surprise so no blindfolds 🙂
I made a breakfast reservation for 3 in Vivere Suites. Vivere is one of the 4 or 5-star hotels in Alabang, Muntinlupa City. The Skylounge Restaurant & Bar is located in the 31st floor with a nice view of the Filinvest area.

Regular rate of their breakfast buffet is Php790nett but they had a promo so it was only Php650nett (inclusive of drinks). They served Filipino, American and Thai food for breakfast. Below are some pictures I took of our breakfast birthday celebration.

The surprise didn’t stop there. Because we weren’t able to watch the concert, I bought him the the new album of Smashing Pumpkins 🙂
After breakfast, we went to a coffee shop so I can work for a few minutes while he did some errands. We then decided to watch a movie with Kelsea in Alabang Town Center. We watched Brave, a movie about a Queen (who wants the best for her daughter) and her princess (who wanted to change her mother). More of Brave here.
Kelsea enjoyed the movie and thought of herself as Princess Merida, who’s great in archery. (The next day Kelsea was using the clothes hanger copying Merida’s pose)
For dinner, we then went to Fernwood Gardens (very traffic!) with my mom and nephew to attend my New Jersey-based second cousin’s Debut party. It was like a big celebration for Mark’s birthday as well LOL!
It was a fun-filled day celebrating with family. But we’re still hoping Smashing Pumpkins comes back here again soon 🙂
