What to do on a holiday? Skip the usual trip to the mall and being lazy at home! Bring the kids outdoors and have fun with nature. Just like what me and my n@w sisters Faye, Maqui and Rachel, together with our families, did last National Heroes’ Day. We went to Sta. Elena Fun Farm in Cabuyao, Laguna.
We took the Cabuyao exit (I read somewhere that there’s also a way from Sta. Rosa), turned right and after around 500m is the entrance of the Sta. Elena property. It is said to be owned by the Tantoco’s. A few meters after the guard house is the much-awaited fun farm and this was what greeted us….

It drizzled a little so we put our stuff in the pavilion and waited till the rain stopped. There were chairs and benches for the guests. The pavilion can also be a venue for seminars and other activities.

There were no restaurants or convenience stores in the farm so we brought our own food. We each had our assignments – pasta from Faye, BBQ and water from Maqui, fruits from Rachel and peanut butter sandwiches and tetra pack juices for the kiddos from me. We were also told by the staff beforehand to bring our own utensils (not the disposable ones just to be environment-friendly). We were all also prepared with lots of extra clothes for the kids and insect repellant just to be sure.
When there were no more raindrops, our first activity was…picture taking! And this was done by the great talent of Studio 2716, our official photographer. They arranged the outdoor benches to create a background as beautiful as mother nature.
Here are our beautiful family shots courtesy of our photographers…

Family portrait (Kelsea was not in the mood to have her picture taken but wants to site beside Maia) |
Next was a one-of-a-kind ride on a carabao named Chocnut who understands the commands of Manong in English 🙂 Only the mommies and kids were able to enjoy this one.
Oh no Chocnut can’t be seen!!! |
After this, we visited the rabbits and fed them carrot sticks. Too bad I wasn’t able to take pictures and Studio 2716 was not around that time when we entered the rabbits’ home. Then we went to the fishing area where Kelsea had her first fishing experience and was able to catch a fish 🙂 (No fishes were harmed. After the catch, they were put back at once in the water by the staff)

Having fun! |
Unfortunately, our family needed to leave at once due to a family emergency. Kelsea didn’t want to go. She still wanted to ride the boat and the horse and play on the sand area. There’s always next time my dear. You can see other pics captured by Studio 2716 here.
Entrance to the Sta. Elena Fun Farm is Php300/pax (kids same rate with adults). Visit must be booked in advance since they only allow only a few to visit at a time. Also in the vicinity of the area is Holy Carabao and Acacia Waldorf School.
We will definitely go back here! Maybe on November when they will be having the Part 2 of Balik Bukid. I think entrance is free on this event.
